The glitter and the gleam. The random and the obscene. The WOW show leaves the individual flabbergasted, overwhelmed, inspired, and amazed. What is WOW you ask? A Wellington, New Zealand based fashion extravaganza focused solely on creating art out of clothing. The World of Wearable Art Show highlights the abilities of designers who create visions, fantasies, and dreams. Food is the focus of one such presentation, showing each carefully dressed boy and girl in cupcakes, candies, and even Chiclets!
The lights dim and the black lights come on and out emerges unearthly beings large and small, talking lips and floating eyeballs; dancing monsters highlighted by the light.

The audience gapes (and myself dear reader is among this group) at the next segment. Multiple girls stand on stools, each with the same dark hair and braid down her lovely back showing to the audience. They wear nothing but multiple layers of long draping cloth that touches the floor. Each layer is removed as the lighting changes, yellow on yellow, red, on red. Out emerge mythical creatures, a woman with corset and a collar where a dead hamster sits in its cage, a horse dancing in leather (the shows winner).

Corsets were displayed on many costumes, with my personal favorite being the one made completely out of metal. One has to wonder at what creations can be made with the infusion of the right pattern, buttons, hat, and a dream.
This writer emerged from the auditorium with many ideas for patterns such as these and these, and the hopes of scraping together the change to beg Corset Connection to make me a few new pretties.
